Abraham

Richard Abraham is a professional Muay Thai fighter who has fought all over the world and was the first American to fight and win at the Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand.
Abraham is a tombstone engraver by trade, working for his family's business in cemeteries around Chicago.
“I think my day job has a lot to do with my mentality,” he says. “That, and some of the things I have experienced in life. I have been through some tough times. I lost my son, my first son, he was five days old, and I lost my mom to cancer when I was just a kid."
Losing my first son was and is the toughest thing I've ever gone through, but it has also taught me my greatest lesson: that I can overcome anything. As a dad and a fighter, I made this promise to my son: that I would do everything I can so that the world would know his name. His memory lives on in Maximus Muay Thai and the legacy we create every day in his honor.
“This life is short, it really is. I truly believe life is a blessing and we need to get as far as we can get and enjoy it as much as we can. When our time is up it's up and there's nothing we can do. There's a saying I like, 'We only get one life— but maybe if you live it right, once is enough'."
